Raised in Akron Tire Shops

Some people find their calling. Mike Caldwell was six years old when his found him β€” in his dad's tire shop, in the Rubber City.

Mike Caldwell: A Life in Tires

Mike grew up the way a lot of Akron kids used to β€” around rubber. From the age of six he was in tire shops alongside his dad: sweeping floors, stacking tires taller than he was, and learning the trade the only way it can really be learned. Hands on, day after day.

His dad taught him more than how to mount and balance a tire. He taught him how to treat people: quote it straight, do it right, and stand behind the work. Decades later, that's still exactly how U Need A Tire runs.

Ask around Akron. Mike's been putting neighbors, friends, and three generations of families back on the road for decades β€” and he still greets most of them by name.

Tires Are in Akron's Blood

Akron isn't called the Rubber City for nothing. Goodyear, Firestone, General β€” the tires that carried America were built right here. Our neighborhoods are literally named for tire companies.

U Need A Tire carries that tradition forward: a proud Goodyear, Kelly, and Milestar dealer, run by an Akron native, serving Ellet, Firestone Park, Goodyear Heights, Springfield Township, Green, and drivers from all over Summit County.

New location, same great reputation β€” over 30 years of quality service in Akron, now at 625 Massillon Rd.
